Youth Coach Certification

  1. USA Football Tackle Certification Level 1 or Level 2

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Coaches need to make sure they are using the same account to take their certification that they have used in previous years. If you have forgotten your email or password you need to contact USA Football Support support@usafootball.com.  If you think you have multiple accounts or have to create a new account the system will assume that you are a NEW Coach requiring Level 1 certification.

Also see the attached PDFs for more detailed USA Football Instructions if needed.

NOTES:  Level 1 Coaches (aka new coaches or coaches that have not completed USA Football Certification w/in the last year) will take approximately 2hrs to complete all required training modules.  Level 2 Coaches (Formerly Recertification) will have the ability to “test out” reducing your time required to approximately 45 minutes.  The USA Football Certification fulfills all state requirements for Concussion and Child Safety plus reinforces the skills and techniques adopted by the LMAA.

LMAA Rules

About the Coaches

All coaches are volunteers. Our goal is to have a minimum of 3 coaches per team (one head coach and two assistant coaches). We will need and appreciate your help!

No previous coaching experience is required, and the coaching opportunity is open to both moms and dads. The program provides each head coach with a coaches handbook, coaching clinics and other resources to assist them in their efforts. We request that each coach understand and accept that the program is for the kids.
While many of the coaches have children in the program and coach on their children's teams, we have several coaches that participate every year without having a child in the program. It is not a requirement for our coaches to have a child in the program in order to coach!

The LMAA required background checks will be conducted with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for every head and assistant coach. This process requires that you register electronically through Trusted Coaches. This is an additional registration requirement to the MGYFA registration process detailed below.

Coaching assignments are largely based on team formation. Being a head coach the previous year is not a guaranty you will continue as one going forward. We may contact new coaches for an interview in order to get to know them better.  Many factors go into the coach selection process:   coaching philosopy, player development, team enviroment and final sign off by Coach Spurrell.

Please be sure to check our calendar for important dates of meetings and clinics.
